Marketing steals time from your creative work.
Marketing is boring.
Marketing is doing the same things as everyone else, in the same places,* hoping strangers will notice you.
Marketing is the price you have to pay if you want readers for your work.
Right?
I don’t think so.
There is a better way to build an audience for your creative work that doesn’t require you to join the latest and greatest social platform or rely on gross-feeling growth hacks.
I believe if you aren’t enjoying the process of building an audience, it doesn’t matter what kind of marketing you do or where you do it.
If you think marketing sucks, you’re going to suck at marketing.
And if you suck at marketing, you’re not going to stick with it.
And if you can’t stick with it, it’s definitely not going to work.
You need a marketing strategy that is:
→ HOLISTIC and PERSONALIZED;
→ SIMPLE and CREATIVE; and
→ A NATURAL extension of the work you’re already doing
Marketing should be a CHOICE, not a CHORE.
